In the beginning of this year I had a very fun opportunity to create a space station design for a Star Wars: Echoes Of Darkness short fan film produced by very talented and creative people from Sneaky Zebra. ( You can learn more about these awesome guys here: https://www.sneakyzebra.com/ )

Star Wars: Echoes Of Darkness is a short fan film set before The Force Awakens. The movie is not out yet and it is in it`s latest production stage, but I have got a permission from the Sneaky Zebra team to share this station design before the movie release. And I`m very happy to share it, because I loved every second working on it. My goal was to create a small Imperial space station/observation outpost that looks over the Endor system that's been later repurposed by the new republic.

Intention was to create something new, something that was not present in the Star Wars movies before.

Small crew of 4 people would work and live on this station making sure that no one goes to steal any old crashed death star tech. The station is named Madine. it's primary purpose is to scan the system, detect intruders and relay any potential threats. Station has a command room top level, basic quarters for 4 people, recreation room, compact defense turrets, maintenance bay and a small hanger, big enough for 2 small fighters like A-wings or wings.

First I needed to develop main ideas and concepts to match their brief, requirements for the design and overall description of what and how they think their station should look like to determine the overall main design direction of station, what shape it would be, how the main constructive elements would be placed in it, and give the whole thing a general outlook.

After they choose one of the 9 created block out concept designs I worked on the finalizing the chosen model, adding details, polishing the design elements and crystalizing the final look of the station.

Then the final model was done and approved it was time for making the textures for the station. So I separated the station by main parts and textured and baked every part in Substance Painter.

After the texturing part I reassembled the whole station, connected and set up all the textures and materials in to final Blender file, made 2 set ups for Eevee and Cycles render engines and then it was ready to render I gave the archive with the set up Blender file & textures to Sneaky Zebra for them to add it to their movie.
